Physical Checks

Solder Points

Make sure to double check.. no.. triple check that you dont have a short or an unintended bridge. Check every wire you soldered. Before you plug in your battery, make sure your VTX antenna is securely connected!

Screws and Bolts

Make sure that all your screws and bolts are fastened down. Loctite blue threadlocker does wonders. Not a requirement, just something to think about.

Props off

Trust me, props off during pre-maiden checks. You’ll thank me later.

Smoke Stopper

It is possible you may have soldered something in reverse. Use a smoke stopper to be extra careful.

Betaflight Settings

Download betaflight configurator

Connect your flight controller to your computer. If it doesnt work, you may need to reflash your flight controller.

Check the gyro

When you first connect to betaflight, you’ll be greeted with a 3D looking drone. Physically move your drone. When point the camera on the drone downward, you’ll see the Green arrow on your “computer drone” in betaflight point downward as well. Lean it left and right, and spin your physical drone. Make sure the one on betaflight configurator does the same as well.

If the expected behavior is not reflected on betaflight configurator, you’ll need to figure out the orientation of your flight controller. Then you’ll need to change it on the “Configuration” tab of Betaflight.
